The FSSW (Friction Stir Spot Welding) Tool is an advanced spot welding solution developed from conventional FSW technology. The tool is composed of three precisely coordinated components — a compression sleeve, a stir sleeve, and a stir pin — that work together through controlled relative movement to create high-quality spot welds. During the welding cycle, the compression sleeve is inserted first, followed by the extraction of the stir pin, retraction of the compression sleeve, and backfilling of the stir pin, resulting in a fully filled, flat-surface weld joint with no keyhole. Compared to traditional Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), FSSW produces weld spots with significantly higher strength, shear resistance, and fatigue resistance — all without the need for any additional filler material. The tool is compatible with common aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, and aluminum-steel dissimilar material joints, making it ideal for lightweight structural applications in aerospace, automotive, and rail industries.
